Group One winner Dealer Principal has again succumbed to injury and will miss the autumn but trainer Anthony Cummings is confident the five-year-old will return for a spring campaign.

Dealer Principal only recently made a winning comeback after being sidelined for more than a year with a knee injury.

Cummings said the gelding's latest setback was unrelated to his previous problem.

The Flying Spur gelding easily accounted for his opposition at Randwick on January 9 at his first race since his fifth to All Silent in the Group One Emirates Stakes (1600m) in November 2008.

"He's gone to the paddock for about three months," Cummings said.

"He had a fracture at the back of his cannon bone, it's basically where the ligament attaches and he's pulled a bit of the bone off.

"It's the same area as his previous injury but it's not connected with the old injury, so I'm pleased about that."

Cummings nominated Dealer Principal for the Doncaster (1600m) at Randwick in April and while his charge won't get a shot at the feature, the trainer already has his sights on another of Randwick's major mile races.

"He'll be well and truly back for the spring, the best case scenario is that he'll win the Epsom instead of the Doncaster," Cummings said.

Dealer Principal has won four of his 12 starts and claimed his biggest career victory in the Group One Rosehill Guineas two years ago.
