Former champion Zealand jockey Lisa Cropp says she's here for the long haul after landing her fourth metropolitan winner in two days with a treble at Sandown.

Cropp won Saturday's opening event on Grand Britannia ($5) for trainer Robbie Laing, guided Syndrome ($5) home an easy winner for the Mike Moroney stable and made it three on the Laing-trained mare Maquina ($4.60).

The hard-working Cropp, who based herself in Melbourne during the spring carnival, has been in top form and has landed 11 winners so far this month.

After seven winners on provincial tracks including doubles at Seymour and Moe, Cropp scored on the Bart Merrall-trained Nostoppinthemusic in the last race at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

She won the New Zealand riding premiership three times in succession including a record 197 wins in the 2004-05 season.

The jockey has put behind her a nine-month disqualification in June last year after being found guilty of methamphetamine use.

"It's a work in progress, I got here for the Melbourne Cup carnival and have had to put names to faces, I've seen the faces on TV," Cropp said.

"It's a matter of head down and tail up. You've got to make the most of your opportunities.

"John Nikolic is my manager and he's doing a super job for me. I love his attitude and we've clicked so I'd say we'll have a long association together."

Cropp said her association with Grand Britannia came by chance.

"I had arrived at Cranbourne for the first trial and he (Laing) said 'Lisa, just jump on this' and I've just loved him from the first time I sat on him," Cropp said.

"He won easily that day."

Cropp also rode the Dash For Cash colt when he won at the Werribee trials last Friday week.

Once Cropp extricated the wayward Grand Britannia from behind the leader The Counterfeiter ($8.50), the grey went home strongly to score by a half-neck from him with Shenanigans ($8.50) 1-3/4 lengths away third in the Radio Sport 927 Plate (1000m).

"He's a gorgeous mover, a real daisy-cutter," Cropp said.

Laing said he was confident Grand Britannia would handle the testing heavy track conditions.

"All grey horses handle the wet so they tell me," the trainer said.

Cropp, who hasn't ridden much in Melbourne over the years, rode Miss Finland into sixth place in the 2006 Cox Plate.

Anthony Feroce, Moroney's stable manager, said people forget what a good rider Cropp is.

"She's ridden with success in Japan, Singapore and Macau and beat Lance O'Sullivan's record for the most wins in a season in New Zealand," he said.
