Tim Clark never has any issues with confidence when he's going out to ride Hot Danish, such is the jockey's faith in the popular Sydney mare's ability.

Clark will be reunited with the Les Bridge-trained six-year-old in the Group Two Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on Saturday and believes the mare is right on target to try to extend her near perfect first-up record.

Danny Nikolic rode Hot Danish in three Melbourne outings during the spring with Clark's last ride on the mare being in her first-up win in the Research Stakes with 61kg in September.

"I have only been on her in her two trials but they have been as good as she has trialled in any preparation so it's pointing to a good first-up run," Clark said.

"Both her trials have been excellent. In her first trial she was still pretty fat and had an easy time of it but she was still quite impressive finishing just behind the winner going pretty easily.

"The other day in her second trial over 1000 metres she had a bit more of a hitout and stretched out really well. She needed that good hitout before the race."

Hot Danish is venturing into uncharted territory on Saturday, resuming first-up over 1300m in weight-for-age company, but Clark doesn't see either being too much of an ask.

"She's never run over 1300 metres first-up before but most times she's gone in with only one trial too," he said.

"This time she's had two trials and I can't see it (the 1300m) being a problem. She fires fresh and hopefully she can keep that near perfect record going."

Hot Danish has only been beaten once in six first-up runs.

Bridge has indicated Hot Danish is likely to be kept to shorter distances than 1600m this preparation as she looks to claim an elusive Group One, and Clark believes the mare certainly deserves to break through at the elite level.

Clark will also be aboard the talented Rangirangdoo who'll be out to claim his first Group One victory in the Ranvet Stakes.

Rangirangdoo's close second to Theseo in the Chipping Norton Stakes last start was Clark's first ride on the five-year-old.

The Chris Waller-trained galloper copped some criticism after the race as Theseo fought back to beat him in a thrilling finish, Rangirangdoo's second narrow defeat in a Group One this season.

Clark believes Rangirangdoo is capable of turning the tables on Theseo in the Ranvet.

"He copped a fair bit of flak in the press after he got beat last start but I didn't think he deserved it," he said.

"I thought his effort was very good and there's been plenty of horses who have gone up to Theseo and haven't been able to get past him.

"This is his first season of weight-for-age racing so he might just need a bit of this tough racing to season him."

The blinkers have been taken off Rangirangdoo for the Ranvet and Clark believes that will help him settle better in the 2000m feature.

Clark has also picked up the ride on the Gai Waterhouse-trained Gold Water in the Group One Coolmore Classic.
