Injury has ruled star Queensland filly Chakvetadze out of the Brisbane winter carnival.

Trainer Michael Nolan said Chakvetadze hurt herself while working on the sand track at Toowoomba on Saturday morning.

Nolan had planned to start the three-year-old in the Group Three BTC Classic (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday as a final guide on whether to run her in the Group One Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm next month.

"I wanted to run her this Saturday in the BTC Classic which would have given us a guide for the Stradbroke or Winter Stakes," Nolan said.

"Unfortunately she struck her fetlock working on the sand track and has got a bit of filling.

"We possibly could have gone on and raced her this weekend but the vet said it was in a bad area."

Nolan said he was in two minds whether to give Chakvetadze her chance in the Stradbroke on June 6 or the Group One Winter Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 20.

"We were looking forward to the 1350 metres in the BTC Classic around Doomben but she might well have gone for a break after Saturday anyway," he said.

"She'll have a couple of months off now and we'll see what happens then but she should be back for the spring."

Chakvetadze won the Group Three Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) at her last start on May 2 to take her unbeaten record to six.
