Star Queensland mare Chakvetadze has left trainer Michael Nolan beaming after scoring a resounding barrier trial win at Toowoomba.

Chakvetadze was having her first serious track test since injury ruled her out of the Brisbane winter carnival and a possible shot at the Group One Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm in June.

The daughter of Taimazov led all the way to trounce the Kevin Kemp-trained Rocklet in an 850-metre barrier trial on the Toowoomba cushion track on Tuesday.

"It was her first strong hitout and she did it comfortably," Nolan said.

"She led them easily but naturally she knocked up a little towards the finish but she still won by around three lengths."

Chakvetadze will have her first start since stretching her unbeaten record to six in the Group Three Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) on May 2 when she resumes in a 1010-metre Flying at Doomben on Saturday week.

Nolan is yet to finalise Chakvetadze's campaign but is considering a possible Sydney trip for the autumn.

"She'll run in the Flying on Saturday week and there's a chance she might also run in the Goldmarket at the Gold Coast after that," he said.

"But all options with her are open including going to Sydney."

Also targeting the $100,000 Listed Goldmarket Handicap (1300m) on January 1 will be the Bruce Hill-trained Leapfrog who finished a courageous second to Baqaba in a Class Six Plate (1200m) at Doomben last Saturday.

Leapfrog was runner-up to Chakvetadze in the Gold Coast Guineas before finishing second to Court in the Group Three BTC Classic at Doomben in May prior to his flop when last to Express Air in the Group Two Queensland Guineas at Eagle Farm in June.

"He is not a Magic Millions-qualified horse but that (Goldmarket) is a race where you don't have to be and I intend to get some of those Gold Coast riches," Hill said.

"He races particularly well at the track and he showed he is back to his best last Saturday."

Leapfrog has had three starts at the Gold Coast for two wins and a second.

The wins came at his first two race starts in August 2008.

Apprentice Luke Rolls will retain the ride in the Goldmarket despite it being a non-claiming event.

"Luke has an affinity with him, they just get along well," Hill said.

"Leapfrog was a little bit of a terror to train early on and he dumped Luke a couple of times.

"Yet all his success (three wins and five placings in 13 starts) have come with Luke aboard and I'm happy to keep him on."
