Comeback jockey Jim Cassidy has committed himself to riding Cox Plate hopeful and autumn giant-killer Vision And Power throughout his spring campaign but remains in the dark about his future on Roman Emperor.

Cassidy has been sidelined since injuring his right shoulder in an incident in the Queensland Derby in June but hopes to return to race riding at Randwick on Saturday week.

He will tune-up for his return at Tuesday's Warwick Farm barrier trials where both Vision And Power and Roman Emperor will ramp up their spring preparations.

Cassidy will ride the Joe Pride-trained Vision And Power in his trial while Bart Cummings' racing manager Bill Charles says Hugh Bowman will partner AJC Australian Derby winner Roman Emperor in his 800m heat.

Cassidy rode both gallopers to Group One wins in the autumn but is unsure if he will be back aboard Roman Emperor during his four-year-old campaign.

"I haven't heard anything about Roman Emperor. I don't know what Bart's done with a jockey for the horse and I'll just wait and see what happens," Cassidy said.

"I've already said to Joe (Pride) I'll be riding Vision And Power right through his campaign."

Cassidy enjoyed a stellar autumn winning the George Ryder Stakes and Doncaster Mile aboard Vision And Power and the AJC Australian Derby on Roman Emperor.

Pride has the Cox Plate in mind for Vision And Power this spring, while Cummings expects Roman Emperor to be among his team as he bids for a record 13th Melbourne Cup win.

Pride has earmarked the Group Two Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 22 for Vision And Power's return while Cummings has indicated Roman Emperor will resume in the same race.

Cassidy is hoping Vision And Power can cement his standing as one of the nation's best weight-for-age gallopers this preparation.

"He's a year older next week and it's all a question mark again but if he returns to the form he was in when he left off, then he might be the horse for the spring," Cassidy said.

Cassidy is back riding trackwork but has ruled out returning to the races in time for the start of the new season on Saturday.

"Definitely not. I'll see how I pull up after the trials and if everything feels right then I'll look at Saturday week," he said.

Vision And Power and Roman Emperor clashed in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in April with Cassidy riding the Cummings-trained colt into tenth, while Nash Rawiller partnered Vision And Power into an unlucky fifth.

However, Cassidy was already booked to ride Roman Emperor in the Queen Elizabeth before Pride made a late call to run Vision And Power.
