The career of Villiers Stakes winner Something Anything is in the balance with the gelding floored in a mystery float accident.

Trainer Gary Portelli said Something Anything was found lying on the bed of the truck which brought him home to Sydney from Brisbane last week.

"Nobody knows how or when it happened," Portelli said.

"When the truck door was opened in Sydney he was on the floor and in distress.

"He has suffered kidney damage. The first 24 hours he was in danger but he has pulled through.

"But the next week or so will be critical as to whether he races again or the damage is too much.

"(Stablemate) Absent Friends was also on the float and had some lacerations where he was kicked by Something Anything but they were just superficial."

Something Anything finished out of the placings in the Doomben 10,000 and the Stradbroke Handicap while Absent Friends' managed a fourth in the Chairman's handicap but was well beaten in the Premier's Cup.

"I don't think I'll be going to Queensland again, I just don't have any luck," Portelli said.

"And the tracks up there were too wet and it made it too hard."

On a brighter note for Portelli, Delago Bolt and Romanus have returned to his Warwick Farm stable to prepare for their three-year-old racing.

Delago Bolt won the Black Opal Stakes before finishing ninth in the Golden Slipper.

Romanus won a two-year-old handicap and ran third in the Skyline Stakes during his juvenile career.

"They have both arrived back fit and well and have strengthened up," Portelli said.

"Romanus will be aimed at the Spring Champion Stakes while Delago Bolt will be kept to sprints.

"I will probably aim up with him and put him in the weight-for-age sprints in Melbourne.
