Glen Boss has appealed a careless riding suspension, paving the way for him to ride Valdemoro for the first time in Saturday's Group Two Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board will hear Boss's appeal on Monday.

Boss is appealing the decision of the stewards and the severity of the 13-meeting penalty imposed upon him at Geelong on Tuesday.

He was granted a stay of proceedings effective to midnight on Sunday which allows him to ride the Tony Vasil-trained Valdemoro who is one of his seven mounts at Caulfield.

The beautifully-bred Valdemoro is facing a rematch with Faint Perfume who beat her into second place in two Group One races last season.

The four-year-old, by Encosta De Lago from Elvstroem's Group One Australasian Oaks-placed sister Hveger, was runner-up by a neck to Faint Perfume in the VRC Oaks (2500m) at Flemington last spring and a half-neck second to her in the Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill in the autumn.

She hasn't raced since her failure in the AJC Oaks (2400m) when eighth to Once Were Wild at Randwick in April.

"I'm rapt to be on her because I saw her in the autumn and she put in some outstanding performances," Boss said.

"She just didn't look furnished to me. She was a big, gangly, immature three-year-old filly.

"I haven't laid eyes on her yet but I can only imagine that she has grown into a nice mare.

"She's got great form when she's fresh and Tony's horses are just flying at the minute.

"She's a very good ride in a good race."

Michelle Payne will have her first race ride aboard Faint Perfume who hasn't raced since her second in the AJC Oaks when unable to peg back the dashing frontrunner Once Were Wild.

The Shamardal mare is one of five runners representing master trainer Bart Cummings in the 1400m Memsie along with reigning Cox Plate winner So You Think (Steven Arnold), Sirmione (Mark Zahra), Moatize (Chris Symons) and Brightnight (James Winks).

Shoot Out, the $2.60 favourite with TAB Sportsbet, has a race fitness edge over his rivals who are all coming off breaks of 11 weeks or more except for Red Ruler who resumed with a heavy track failure in New Zealand.

Shoot Out has won the Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) and the JJ Liston Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield over the past month.

Horse of the Year fancy Typhoon Tracy is considered his main danger at $3.10 with So You Think at $7.50, last year's runner-up Whobegotyou at $8.50, Faint Perfume at $11, Zabrasive at $14 and Valdemoro at $18.
