Champions Glen Boss and Craig Williams, refreshed after overseas stints, will strengthen Melbourne's jockey ranks with good books of rides at Flemington on Saturday.

Boss rode 11 winners during a 2-1/2-month working holiday in Singapore while Williams rode successfully in Japan where his 13 winners included the Group One NHK Mile in Tokyo aboard Grand Prix Boss.

Neither rider has ridden at a Saturday or public holiday meeting in Melbourne since VRC St Leger day at Flemington on April 25.

Boss, who rode at Doomben on May 14, returned with four rides at Sandown on Wednesday and has been booked for seven mounts at Flemington.

Williams, who enjoyed a 10-day break at Lindeman Island in Queensland since one ride at Sale on June 30, is also in demand.

"I've got seven rides on Saturday and seven on Sunday (at Cranbourne). I'm looking forward to it," Williams said.

"I started to prepare for the spring carnival when I got back and I'm happy with the way my body has responded to the trackwork and my exercise regimen."

Williams said he was keen to renew acquaintances with the likes of Brazilian Pulse, Moudre and Speediness in the new season.

With dual premiership-winning rider Luke Nolen currently under a careless riding suspension, dual premiership-winning trainer Peter Moody has engaged Boss for three rides and Williams for two.

Boss' rides for Moody are Chateau Margaux in the ACG Security Hcp (1400m), Conquering Journey in the Baden-Baden Trophy (2000m) and Volando in the Wrap Around Hcp (1400m).

Williams' are Not On Monday in the ACG Security Hcp and Testascana, the $3.80 favourite in the Hanan Displays Hcp (1600m).

Moody has eight runners in seven races on the eight-event program which could see him become the third trainer to reach 100 winners in a season in Melbourne, the feat being achieved by Lee Freedman and David Hayes.

Deliver The Dream gave Moody 98-1/2 metropolitan winners in Victoria for the season at Sandown on Wednesday.

Craig Newitt has picked up the ride on the Moody-trained Sidecar in the Australian Lamb Company P/L Hcp (1700m) while stable apprentice Daniel Stackhouse will ride Servant in the King Island Dairy Hcp (1100m) and Elumino in the Wrap Around Handicap.

Williams will also ride Galileo Gold ($5 fav) for his uncle, trainer Doug Harrison in the Australian Lamb Company P/L Handicap.

Last start the rising four-year-old gelding led under Wayne Davis and was collared late by Dominant Future in the Silver Bowl Final (1600m) at Flemington on July 9.
