Star filly Black Caviar's spring campaign is in disarray due to a muscle injury sustained at the start of Saturday's Group Two Danehill Stakes at Flemington.
Black Caviar maintained her unbeaten record when she defeated stablemate Wanted in the Group Two feature, but suffered a muscle tear across the chest.
Markets for the Thousand Guineas have been reshuffled with Black Caviar listed as "doubtful" and easing from $2.80 to $4.50 with TAB Sportsbet.
Trainer Peter Moody said Black Caviar was noticeably sore on Monday morning.
"She's got a muscle tear across the chest but she x-rayed fine," Moody told racenet.com.au
"We'll give her a week off before we reassess things after we have another look. If she doesn't come up we won't hesitate to send her to the paddock."
Moody said it was now unlikely Black Caviar would run in the Group One fillies' feature on October 14 even if she recovers quickly from her injury.
Meanwhile David Hayes handed out a tip after his Thousand Guineas prospect Irish Lights upset Black Caviar's stablemate Avenue at Flemington on Saturday.
Racing in the navy blue Coolmore colours, Irish Lights, having only her third race start, bolted away to win by 2-3/4 lengths from the favourite Avenue with the Mark Kavanagh-trained filly Luce Del Mare a short-neck away third in the Sofitel Girls Day Out 1100.
"I was actually very confident she would win, then Avenue turned up with all the hype on it," Hayes said.
"It dampened my confidence a little bit but when you have got a filly like this you shouldn't really worry about many others.
"She is high class.
"I think a good filly (Avenue) was beaten by a very good filly and they might be a couple of fillies to follow for the spring."
At her only two previous runs, Irish Lights was second to Rostova in a Blue Diamond Preview and pulled up shinsore at only other run when second last in the Blue Diamond Stakes.
"She is set for Thousand Guineas and the Guineas Prelude in two weeks will tell us the answer," Hayes said.
While Hayes was confident, winning jockey Glen Boss admitted he had reservations about Irish Lights before she exploded in to Thousand Guineas contention with her stunning first up effort.
Boss said that on her trackwork he felt Irish Lights would need the run in the 1100m event, but she rose to the occasion to beat the hype filly (Avenue) in easy fashion.
"Her trackwork was very ordinary and I thought she would take one or two runs, but on the track you could tell she was on her game," Boss said of Irish Lights.
"Within one stride she put them away and then idled off when she got clear."
Another filly to come right into Thousand Guineas contention was the Mick Price-trained Aloha who ran on strongly to finish runner-up to Elvstroem colt Carrara in the Henry Bucks Best Dressed Stakes (1400m).
"She's tough and good and will keep improving," Price said.
Melito, winner of Saturday's Furious Stakes at Randwick, is now the $7 second pick for the Thousand Guineas with trainer Gerald Ryan to make a decision on a start after she runs in the Flight Stakes on October 3.
