The drama over which horse Craig Williams rides in the Stradbroke Handicap has not dented trainer Grahame Begg's confidence in All Silent.

On Monday, Queensland stewards will continue a hearing instigated by Ortensia's trainer Tony Noonan who believes Williams has a confirmed booking for Ortensia who cemented a Stradbroke start with victory in the QTC Cup.

Williams, who rode four winners including Ortensia at Eagle Farm on Saturday, announced last week he would stick with All Silent who finished third in the Doomben 10,000 behind Apache Cat and Black Piranha.

Until she won the QTC Cup, Ortensia was only a borderline chance of making the field for Saturday's $1 million Stradbroke Handicap (1400m).

Begg has Hugh Bowman in the wings should the position change and is confident All Silent is ready to claim his second Group One no matter who rides him.

"He had a gallop on the course proper at Doomben on Saturday morning and will probably do so again on Tuesday," Begg said.

"It was great that the club made the Doomben facility available.

"I'm very happy going into the Stradbroke. His run in the Doomben 10,000 was really good, and so was the ride."

Williams' unorthodox ride on All Silent in the Doomben 10,000 was acclaimed by many, including Begg, and questioned by stewards.

As is his habit, Williams walked the track during the day and believed the best section of the wet surface was wide, but a little wider than most expected.

He brought All Silent down the outside rail out of camera focus, leaving television punters bewildered when the gelding was called in the placings.

All Silent, Ortensia and Black Piranha were the $5 equal favourites on Sunday for the Stradbroke ahead of Wednesday's final acceptances and barrier draw.

All Silent's Doomben 10,000 third was his best performance on a heavy track and has further boosted Begg's confidence with the prediction of rain in Brisbane this week.

"His preferred ground is good ground but he gets through the wet okay," Begg said.

"I think it was so heavy at Doomben that he was able to get a better grip.

"I don't think he likes it slippery.

"Whatever happens and whatever the track, I'm happy going into the race that he is well and will do well."
