Bart Cummings' two best stayers Viewed and Moatize have had their autumn campaigns curtailed but waiting in the wings are able replacements in Joe Blow and Dandaad.

Both put their Sydney Cup credentials on the line when they contest the Chairman's Handicap (2600m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Viewed disappointed the master trainer when he could only manage third in last Saturday's BMW won by Fiumicino but the subsequent discovery of a hoof abscess went some way to explaining his defeat.

Moatize was withdrawn just days before the BMW with a knee injury, causing an adjustment of markets for the Sydney Cup (3200m) on April 25 for which he had been favourite.

Dandaad already has the distance form on the board having won the Lavazza Long Black (2800m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.

The race is considered a consolation for those horses who don't make the Cup and is important in satisfying balloting clauses for future attempts.

The less experienced Joe Blow has been stepped up over longer this preparation and the Chairman's is vital to his Sydney Cup hopes.

"He has to win a good race to get into the field for the Sydney Cup," Cummings said.

"And there's another Cup I'd like to run him in."

Plan B for the John Singleton-owned Joe Blow is to go to the Brisbane Cup in June, the path taken by Viewed who went on to win the Melbourne Cup.

At his first attempt beyond 1800 metres, Joe Blow finished third to Speed Dubai over 2200 at Warwick Farm on March 31 which followed two middle distance wins.

Dandaad finished four lengths sixth in the Manion Cup won by Enzedex Eagle.

The Manion Cup field was similar to the Chairman's and Enzedex Eagle was the $4.80 equal favourite with Common Objective on Thursday.

Joe Blow was at $9 and Dandaad $18 with TAB Sportsbet.
