Bjorn Baker says We Can Say It Now can set up a trip to either Dubai or Hong Kong by performing well in Saturday's Australian Guineas at Flemington.

Baker said the filly would be spot-on for the Group One $750,000 three-year-old feature over 1600m after she worked strongly at Flemington on Tuesday morning.

The Starcraft filly was matched with the Danny O'Brien-trained Shamrocker over 1200m on the course proper where the markers were out 20m and the going was rated as dead.

The pair was timed to run the trip in 1:19.66 with the last 400m in 23.32s and We Can Say It Now holding a half-length advantage on the line.

"It looked like good work," Baker, who co-trains the filly with his father Murray at Cambridge in New Zealand, said.

"She's in good order and I think she'll be spot-on for Saturday.

"She's a big, lazy filly and she did a little bit more (than usual) today.

"Her form has been good back home and hopefully she'll be competitive."

The Bakers have had We Can Say It Now at Flemington for the past two weeks and she has settled in well.

"Any time you get a good horse you look to bring it over here because the money's so good," Baker said.

"It was always the plan to come here and it's good to be here with a promising filly."

Murray Baker prepared My Eagle Eye to run second to Triscay in the 1991 Australian Guineas.

Triscay, prepared by the late Jack Denham, was the first of only two fillies to have won the Guineas with the other being the David Hayes-trained Miss Finland in 2007, and the Baker stable is hoping We Can Say It Now can emulate that pair.

Baker said if We Can Say It Now performed up to expectations on Saturday there were options for her to go for either the Dubai Duty Free at Meydan on June 26 or to Hong Kong in December.

Owned by Paul and Lyndall Makin of Starcraft fame, We Can Say It Now is out of the Generous mare We Can't Say That who won eight races from 1560m to 2500m including the2005 RM Ansett Classic (2000m) at Mornington and a $100,000 event over 2500m at Flemington.

We Can Say It Now has made a name for herself in New Zealand winning four of her eight starts including two at Group One level.

She won the Levin Classic at Otaki and then beat the older horses in the weight-for-age Captain Cook Stakes at Trentham, both over 1600m, in November-December.

The filly had a 10-week break before running fifth to King Mufhasa in the Group One Waikato Draught (1400m) at Te Rapa on February 12.

Baker said We Can Say It Now was coming to Australia with better credentials than some of their best-performed horses in recent times including Harris Tweed (AJC Australian Derby and Caulfield Cup runner-up), Nom Du Jeu (AJC Australian Derby winner) and Lion Tamer (Victoria Derby winner) who came over as Group winners.

Craig Williams will ride the $6 Guineas favourite and he is after his second victory in the event having won aboard Miss Finland.

Final acceptances for the Guineas close at 10am (AEDT) on Wednesday.
