Bacchanal Woman confirmed a trip to New Zealand for a tilt at Group One glory with her commanding victory in the Listed National Sprint at Canberra on Sunday.

Trainer Keith Dryden is aiming the mare at the Group One New Zealand Bloodstock Breeders Stakes (1600m) at Te Aroha on April 4.

Dryden said he would give her a lead-up run in the Group Two Japan-New Zealand International Trophy (1600m) at Tauranga on March 21.

"If she won today we were booking her a flight," Dryden said.

"And she's booked to go next week now, we'll give her a few days to get over this, she did a great job today.

"We were very confident about her chances of making it to New Zealand, she's going so well."

Bacchanal Woman could not have been more impressive, skipping clear in the straight with evergreen jockey Kevin Sweeney aboard.

She went on to win the 1400m race score by a comfortable 2-3/4 lengths over the Anthony Cummings-trained French Gaze.

Sweeney, who will ride the mare in New Zealand, said the race was in the bag a long way from home.

"As soon as we hit the straight I knew she had it," Sweeney said.

"I only had to give her a little niggle at the 700 metres and that's all because she's going that well."

Dryden was full of praise for Sweeney.

"Kevin knew she was a good thing today and he rode her like one, it was a very good ride, she stayed out of trouble and got the chance to power home," Dryden said.
