Stakeswinning Canberra mare Bacchanal Woman's outstanding work at home has delayed plans to send her to the broodmare's barn and has connections hoping to enhance her value by landing Group success this campaign.

The Keith Dryden-trained Encosta De Lago mare resumes in a 1200-metre fillies and mares race at Randwick on Saturday after a 15-week spell.

Five-year-old Bacchanal Woman returns following her unsuccessful two-start New Zealand campaign which concluded with an unplaced run in the Group One Breeders Stakes (1600m) at Te Aroha in April.

"We were at the wrong end of her campaign over there, we had her set for the National Sprint to get a bit of black-type, her whole program revolved around that race," Dryden said.

"She was supposed to go to the paddock but she was going so well and we thought with all of the good fillies over here we might get it a bit weaker over there."

Her unplaced runs abroad came after her dominant 2-3/4 length win in the Listed National Sprint (1400m) at Canberra in March.

"We got a fair bit out of her last preparation and she was deserving of a good break," Dryden said.

"I'm very pleased with her, she's been working very strongly.

"This will be too short for her but I'm expecting her to be running home nicely and if she's in the first five or six I'll be pretty pleased with the run.

"She'll be at her best over 1400 to a mile (1600m) and later on we'll be looking for a Group race for her."

Bacchanal Woman has been given topweight of 58kg and Dryden said 1.5kg-claiming apprentice Daniel Ganderton was likely to be booked for the ride.

Dryden said stablemate De Lightning Ridge would return next week at either Canterbury on Wednesday or Warwick Farm on Friday at the final metropolitan meeting of the season.

The one-time favourite for the 2008 Golden Slipper, De Lightning Ridge is on the comeback trail after suffering a fractured pelvis and has not raced since finishing last in the Listed Brian Crowley Stakes at Randwick in October last year.
