WHILE tomorrow's Blue Diamond Stakes Previews at Caulfield promise to give a valuable insight into the stocks of the top two-year-olds, the Zeditave Stakes for horses a year older appears to hold just as much interest for the autumn carnival, reports The Age.

It says: With some of the high-class spring three-year-olds returning in the race, including the group 1 Caulfield Guineas winner Anacheeva, the 1200-metre event should prove a valuable measuring stick. The lightly raced Roadtrain, who tackles a field of aspiring quality three-year-olds for the first time after winning five of his seven starts, is another exciting prospect.

Trainer Tony Vasil was yesterday under no illusions about the daunting task facing Roadtrain. While not bullish about Roadtrain's chances of toppling the likes of Anacheeva, he's not backing away from his belief that the horse will be highly competitive in the Zeditave.

''When you get to this class of race, you can't spend your time ducking one horse,'' Vasil said. ''Yes, [Anacheeva] is a very good horse, but I have a very healthy opinion of Roadtrain 'When he was first-up at Caulfield, when Warm Love beat us, we lost all chance with the slow early tempo. His record could even be better because his last run before a spell at Moonee Valley was great when he had no luck at all. I expect him to be right in the finish,'' Vasil said.
