FUNDIDO'S trainer Chris Waller has bucked the market in naming Amorino as the one to beat in the Magic Millions Classic, reports Bart Sinclair in the Courier-Mail.

His article adds: Before his last-start flop at Rosehill on Boxing Day, Fundido was prominent in MM Classic betting but now is a $17 chance for Saturday's race at the Gold Coast and Waller concedes he has a tough task to turn it around from gate 16. He has a strong leaning to Amorino as the one to beat ahead of the two market darlings, Driefontein and Sizzler, who ran one-two in the B.J. McLachlan Stakes at Doomben 12 days ago.

"Amorino has been very impressive in his two wins in Sydney and I rate the form there the strongest two-year-old form in the country," Waller said. "A few years ago I made a conscious decision to ramp up my presence in the two-year-old races but it just hasn't happened despite our best efforts. I'm sure it is because of the strong Sydney juvenile form. It's just so hard to win the races in Sydney. The Sydney trainers have more access to the best breeding area in Australia with so many top studs based in the Hunter.

"Good two-year-olds can come along from the other states but as a group Sydney is usually the benchmark and that seems to be the case this year."
