STARTING off a new business is hard work but Malua Racing had a dream start at Betfair Park yesterday when its first metropolitan runner, Dubawi Gold, won the Noni B Handicap (1200 metres), reports The Age.

It says: ''I'm really thrilled for all involved because it has been hard work starting it all off from scratch,'' Malua's trainer John Sadler said.

With Sadler looking after the horses and Troy Corstens as general manager, Malua only set up operations at Flemington four weeks ago, but yesterday wasn't all about things new - Sadler's mother Mary, who turns 103, next week was on-course to enjoy the win. Yesterday's victory was Dubawi Gold's second victory from as many starts after winning on debut at Ballarat three weeks ago and Sadler believes the gelding has a good future.

''I think he might not be a bad horse. Not many win their maiden and then come straight to town and win,'' Sadler said.
