ONE word summed up the emotion John McNair, Hay List's trainer, felt when told Black Caviar would not run in the Doomben 10,000 - "Yahoo", reports the Brisbane Courier-Mail.

It says: McNair has conceded Black Caviar is simply too good for Hay List and was resigned to again standing in the runner-up stall after the 10,000 tomorrow week.

Trainer Peter Moody yesterday was disappointed to break the news his world champion was in need of an immediate break from racing. But Moody was quick to allay fears for Black Caviar's racing future.

"She will be back in the spring. She just needs a month off," Moody said. "There is nothing serious, but there was no point taking any risk. I came up on Wednesday and thought she looked the best ever in the coat but there was just a little wear and tear in one area, which will disappear with a few weeks off.

"I flew up my vet Peter Angus from Melbourne and we had a good look at her (yesterday). We then had a telephone conference hook-up with the owners and made the call. She has had some hard runs. When they are running the times she does it takes something out of them. She has done it five times this campaign. She has done a great job and has earned a good break.'
