MARK Kavanagh was measured when assessing the prospects of Chivalry in Saturday's Blue Diamond. Kavanagh noted it was "clever" not to have high expectations in the Diamond given it is always a high pressure race with horses still in their infancy, reports Racing Network.

Chivalry, an eye catching third behind Rubick in the Blue Diamond Prelude, will start from barrier five in the $1 million Group 1.

"No one wants to draw the outside in a race like this. It is a pressure race and there is plenty going on inside of him and there is plenty going on outside of him," Kavanagh said. "He should get a good run from there. I expect a very quick first half, certainly with the favorite (Earthquake) drawn out wide. He was last in the bend the other day (Prelude). You would expect him to be closer than that."

Kavanagh said Chivalry came into the Diamond with improvement from his Prelude run, but mindful of what the race can throw up.

"There is a lot of traffic and lot of people will be disappointed as I can see pretty rough race," he said. Undoubtedly won the Diamond for Kavanagh in 2005, but he saw little similarities with Chivalry.

"This is more a get back, three-year-old horse and Undoubtedly was a two-year-old and two-year-old only," Kavanagh said. "This bloke is going a bit better than Undoubtedly at the time, this is just a stronger year."
