IT IS a long way from a midweek win to group races, but if the impressive performance by Studley Park at Sandown yesterday is anything to go by, owner Lloyd Williams looks to have another potential star galloper by Zabeel in his stable, reports The Age.

It says: Williams has raced horses including Melbourne Cup winner Efficient, unbeaten Reset, Gallic and Legible, by the super New Zealand sire, and jockey Michael Rodd believes Studley park, who is unbeaten in two starts, will measure up to much better races.

''My praise couldn't be high enough for this horse. The sky is the limit,'' Rodd said. ''He's won his maiden like a very good horse and then it's hard to go on and win your next race, especially in town against more experienced horses, and he's done that.''

Studley Park ($1.90 favourite) was slowly away before settling three back along the inside. He was stuck behind a wall of horses halfway up the straight, but when a narrow gap appeared the four-year-old showed brilliant acceleration to drive through to quickly put the issue beyond doubt and won easing down 'It's lucky he's so skinny because it was a very narrow gap, but he didn't bat an eyelid and went straight through,'' Rodd said.
