French trainer Mikel Delzangles did not waste any time heading to the TAB International Horse Centre at Werribee to inspect his star Dunaden upon his arrival in Melbourne this morning.

Delzangles' flight landed at 2.30am and he was at Werribee four hours later to have his first look at Dunaden since he entered quarantine at Newmarket in England a little over four weeks ago.

Delzangles was pleased with the condition of last year'sEmirates Melbourne Cup winner as the seven-year-old prepares for his latest challenge - the$2.5 million BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) next Saturday.

"I'm very happy with the condition of Dunaden and he looks strong and healthy," Delzangles said.

Dunaden won the Geelong Cup last year on his way to the Melbourne Cup but his connections are concentrating first on the Caulfield Cup this year.

It is the same situation with Americain with both camps considering their stars will be better suited this year in the Caulfield Cup, than in the Melbourne Cup.

Both horses have good records over, or near 2400metres, with Dunaden also taking the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase (2400m) last December after his Melbourne Cup victory.

Jockey Craig Williams will be at Werribee tomorrow to ride Dunaden in what will be his major hit-out heading into the Caulfield Cup.

Williams rode Dunaden at Werribee last Monday and said, if anything, that the horse felt better than he did last year.

French horses have become tofeelvery much at home at Werribee with the successes of Dunaden, Americain and now Shahwardi who joined the elite group after his win in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield yesterday.

Stephanie Nigge, who is looking after Shahwardi as well as Americain for trainer Alain de Royer Dupre, said the horse had come out of yesterday's race in brilliant fashion.
