GREG Eurell and Chris Symons combined to win the Blixen Handicap (1200 metres) at Sandown Lakeside yesterday with promising filly Pinker Pinker, who looks set for better wins after a rails-hugging ride by Symons gave her an easy victory, reports The Age.

It says: Pinker Pinker ($4.20), in her second start, saved many lengths by staying on the fence around the home turn before racing away from Global Anthem ($4) to win by 2¥ lengths.

Eurell explained that she had been turned out at her previous campaign due to a minor injury but had come back much stronger.

''Since [Pinker Pinker] has been back she has shown us that there was really something there to work with and the further she has got into her preparation the better she has got in herself,'' Eurell said.

According to Eurell, the win over 1200 metres was something of a bonus as he believed Pinker Pinker would be much better suited over longer distances.

The win also had owners David and Carol Kirby back in the winners' stall but this time with a horse they bought at the Inglis Premier sale rather than one they had bred. The Kirbys had great success with stakes-winners such as Nick On The Run, Power And Glory and Swell Time Girl, who all trace back to their group 3 winner Paraparap, but they are now out of the breeding business.
