CRAIG Williams and Damien Oliver could not be separated at the end of the 2008-09 racing season for Melbourne winners but Williams easily held out his great rival last night to win a fourth consecutive Scobie Breasley Medal at the Crown Palladium, reports The Age.

It says: Williams and Oliver tied on 71 winners at season's end 10 days ago but the Breasley Medal judges awarded Williams 73 votes to Oliver's 58, despite both polling at 30 meetings. Brad Rawiller finished third on 39 votes.

Oliver is a six-time Breasley Medal winner, starting with the inaugural award in 1996. His last win came in 2004 shortly before a horror fall at Moonee Valley when he received multiple fractures of the vertebrae, which threatened to end his career.
