WHILE Victorian jumps racing is in a state flux, one of the state's notable exports is on the cusp of competing in some of England's most prestigious jumps races, reports The Age.

It says: With jumping supporters rallying to have Racing Victoria's decision to terminate the sport overturned, a former country Victoria jumper, Ginolad, is to begin a winter of jumping in England. Ginolad will have his first start over steeples at Fontwell Park tomorrow night. Formerly trained by Aaron Purcell, Ginolad is now prepared by Venetia Williams, who trained MonMome to win this year's Grand National Steeplechase at Aintree.

Purcell still part owns nine-year-old Ginolad with his family and has leased a half-share to a group of Australian jumps racing fans.

Ginolad is being prepared to contest the Cheltenham and Aintree jumps festivals in March and April next year.

Ginolad, winner of the 2008 Grand Annual Steeplechase (5500 metres) at Warrnambool and the Grand National Steeplechase (4350 metres) at Flemington, will carry 70 kilograms tomorrow.
