HAVING worn a deal of pain through So You Think's spring carnival and then Black Caviar's six-start winning streak this autumn, Australian bookmakers are not willing to risk the Australian champion as he seeks further fame in tonight's group 1 Prince Of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot, reports The Age.
It says: Bookmakers were last night offering no better than $1.40 about So You Think to win his toughest test in Europe to date. But the magnificent black stallion must bring his best performance to win early tomorrow (12.45am Thursday, Melbourne time) as, although he has only his six rivals, they will provide more than adequate competition.
Planteur, runner-up in the 2010 French Derby and unbeaten in two starts this year, is considered the main threat to So You Think and was last night the only other runner under double-figure odds at $5. He is expected to threaten So You Think if the Ascot track is wet. On the third line at $10 is the Henry Cecil-trained Twice Over, winner of the 2010 group 1 Champion Stakes and placegetter in the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic. Others include Debussy, the 2010 Arlington Million winner.
Last spring he won four group 1 races on end for trainer Bart Cummings and has won both his starts for Aidan O'Brien in Ireland to prepare for tonight's renowned group 1. Then, for the son of O'Brien's former champion High Chaparral, it could be onto the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown Park in July before a tilt at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamps.
