How easy was it for Aussie champ So You Think at The Curragh? He absolutely strolled home. New jockey Ryan Moore got the ultimate armchair-ride as So You Think blitzed his handful of rivals in the Tattersalls Gold Cup (2000m). So You Think, the $1.16 fav, cruised to a 4.5 lens win from Godolphin's Campanologist ($15) with 2.5 lens to Famous Name ($8) third. Trainer Aidan O'Brien says So You Think will now go to Royal Ascot for the Grp 1 Prince Of Wales Stakes (2000m) on June 15.
Aidan O'Brien, of course, was thrilled by So You Think's demolition job. He says: 'Ryan was delighted with him. The minute he asked him, he responded immediately. The plan was here and then the Prince Of Wales's Stakes (at Royal Ascot). It was important that Ryan got a sit on him...He is an incredible horse. When you look at him in races you notice that the others are flat to the boards around him. He'd have no problem winning a mile Group One race...We'll take it one race at a time with him and, as regards riding plans, we're lucky to have some top-class riders around.'
UK bookmakers were quick to react to the success by making So You Think outright favorite for both the Betfair King George and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, says the UK Racing Post. It adds: 'Paddy Power pushed the five-year-old ahead of Workforce in their Arc market at 7/2 from 4/1. The firm left him unchanged at 5/2 favourite for the King George at Ascot on July 23. Victor Chandler were even more taken with the victory, cutting So You Think to 2/1 favorite (from 11-4)for the King George and to 7/2 (from 9/2) for the Arc at Longchamp on October 2.
Stradbroke news...Peter Snowden's Skilled is a big Stradbroke market shortener (from $31 into $10) after his bold 3rd in the 1350m Fred Best Classic at Doomben. Skilled struck a traffic jam in the home straight and then finished strongly. Even with only 50.5kgs Skilled is assured of a place in the final Stradbroke lineip.
