JOCKEY Steven Arnold is likely to achieve the rare feat of riding in feature races in three countries in just seven days after he was yesterday granted a temporary licence to compete in the Macau Cup next week, reports Andrew Eddy in The Age (www.theage.com.au).

His report adds: Arnold leaves tomorrow for England where he will ride Australian sprint champion Scenic Blast in the July Cup at Newmarket early Saturday morning (Melbourne time) before returning to Australia via Macau where he will partner Let Go for former Australian jockey and now leading trainer Geoff Allendorf on Sunday.

The 35-year-old will return to Melbourne in time for the final black-type race of the season, the John Monash Stakes, at Caulfield.

Arnold said yesterday that while he had a busy schedule, he was excited at the prospect of further international competition after winning his first race on English soil on Scenic Blast at Royal Ascot last month. "Obviously Scenic Blast represents the main part of the week for me but it would be good to come back home through Macau and ride a winner there as I've had a few stints riding in Macau and Geoff is a friend of mine." He will ride Encosta De Lago gelding Let Go, who raced under the name of Buffed as a young horse in Australia, in the Macau Cup on Sunday.
