Trainer Trevor Whittington will make his own track inspection on Friday to decide his tactics with Femina Fashion in Saturday's Group Two Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast track was rated a heavy (8) on Thursday but course ranger Steve Andrews is hopeful of an upgrade to slow or possibly dead if forecast showers miss the course.

"I'm going to walk the track myself tomorrow to find out what it's like," Whittington said.

"I didn't get a chance to see the track today and I think we need a few sunny days for the track to improve.

"I think the inside part of the track will be better and two off the fence might be the way to go as that's where the best drainage is.

"We've had a few days of heavy dew this week and we got 25 millimetres in my rain gauge on Tuesday and I'm straight across the road from the course."

Whittington has booked Brisbane's in-form jockey Damian Browne to partner Femina Fashion who was ridden by Shane Scriven when she won over 2040 metres at Doomben last month.

Browne has ridden Femina Fashion once in her career when she finished fourth at her third start in the Listed Golden Stakes at Doomben in May 2009.

Whittington's expects Femina Fashion, who drew barrier eight, will be the Hollindale Stakes leader and is confident she can acquit herself well in her first weight-for-age test.

"She's terrific and pulled up really well following her Doomben win," he said.

"I expected her to win last time and it was a very good performance.

"I couldn't be happier with her and she's trained on well but she's never been at weight-for-age."

Whittington feels the daughter of Shamardal has improved since her three-year-old days and will go into Saturday's 1800m race with an unbeaten record from two starts over the journey.

Her last win over the Hollindale Stakes distance was in the Magic Millions Stayers Cup at the Gold Coast on January 15.

"She's a definite chance despite it being weight-for-age and 1800 metres is her perfect distance," Whittington said.

"We'll find out on Saturday how she'll handle the weight scale and it's a high class field with the two imports in it.

"I watched a replay of Glass Harmonium winning his barrier trials at Hawkesbury and he looks an impressive type."

The Mike Moroney-trained Glass Harmonium has been well backed for the Group One Doomben Cup (2020m) on May 21, firming from $41 to $12 with TAB Sportsbet.

Moroney took over the training of Glass Harmonium from Sir Michael Stoute after the horse's unplaced run in the Group One Hong Kong Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin in December.
