Many say weight can stop a train but trainer Joe Pride says it won't stop striking grey Hadaaf in the Listed Winter Stakes at Rosehill.

The six-year-old has the topweight of 59.5kg in Saturday's 1500 metre feature.

Hadaaf is chasing consecutive wins after he edged out Cruisy Lady in the Civic Stakes at Rosehill on July 4.

He carried 58kg to victory last start, five more kilograms than Cruisy Lady who again has 53kg in the Winter Stakes.

"He's worked well since the win and seems to have improved, so I can't see any reason he can't do it again," Pride said.

"He carries weight well and loves the track and the wet conditions, he ticks all the boxes again."

In-form jockey Tye Angland will again team up with Hadaaf after winning the Civic.

Angland followed the victory with a win aboard Voice Commander in Saturday's Listed Weetwood Handicap at Toowoomba.

The hoop, who turns 20 on Thursday, has enjoyed a huge winter highlighted by a Group One winning ride on Black Piranha in the Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm in June.

Pride has been a big supporter of Angland and is pleased to see him having so much success.

"Confidence is a big thing and people are putting him on their horses knowing that he is more than capable of getting the job done and that gives Tye even more confidence and it shows in his riding," Pride said.

Angland is delighted to get back on Hadaaf.

"He's an old champion," Angland said.

"He just turns up to the races and does his job, no matter what sort of weight he's got or what the track is like and I'm expecting him to go very well again."

The Allan Denham-trained Strat's Flyer is second in the weights with 56.5kg.

Strat's Flyer was badly held up for a run in the Civic where he finished ninth.

One start earlier he came with a barnstorming run to win the Listed Takeover Target Stakes at Gosford on June 24.
