Guy Walter is renowned for his patient approach with horses and his two-year-old runners are few and far between.

When he has produced them in the past, it has usually been with success.

He won the 1998 Gimcrack Stakes with Katima and 2006 AJC Sires' Produce Stakes with Excites and now the Warwick Farm horseman has his sights on next year's Magic Millions with unraced youngster Commanding Cash.

"I've had the odd one (juvenile) over the years," Walter said.

"I had a Gimcrack Stakes winner one year, Katima, and there was Excites a couple of years ago but he was more an autumn two-year-old.

"I tend to assess them as they go along, plenty don't have the right pedigrees and most horses aren't ready to race as early two-year-olds."

Commanding Cash has bucked that trend and will make his debut for Walter this weekend.

The youngster has been nominated for the 2YO Hcp (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday and the Magic Millions Wyong Slipper (1000m) a day later.

Walter is leaning towards starting him at Rosehill but will wait until acceptances on Thursday before making a final decision.

Either way, he is optimistic about the colt's future and has been happy with his two barrier trial efforts, the latest a third to Wilson's Choice at Warwick Farm last month.

"He's a lovely colt, he hasn't put a foot wrong," Walter said.

"At his first trial he was only new, Rodney (Quinn) rode him and he was very inexperienced.

"He was given an easy time and trialled well.

"At his second trial (apprentice) Kody Nestor rode him, he jumped well and could have led but we elected to ride him in behind them to teach him something.

"He's shown some ability on the training track and in his trials."

Walter also has two entries in the feature Festival Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill in last-start winner Lyncean Academy and the aptly-named I've Got Talent.

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Corey Brown has been booked to ride Lyncean Academy who has equal topweight of 58kg along with the Gai Waterhouse-trained pair of Rabbuka and Rockwood.

Glyn Schofield will partner I've Got Talent (53.5kg) and both horses will use Saturday's Listed race as a springboard into the Group Two Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on December 19.
