Chris Waller is proud of his much-publicised record of training a winner at 20 consecutive Rosehill Saturday meetings but is playing down his chances of making it 21 this weekend.

Sydney's leading trainer has just five runners at the meeting and if the winning streak is to continue he believes it will probably happen in the first race with Mutawarath.

"I'm proud of what we've done but it will stop one day," Waller said.

"We will continue to place horses where they are best suited without thinking about the record so we don't have a really strong team numbers-wise on Saturday.

"I think Mutawarath is probably the best of them. He was a bit disappointing over 1600 metres last time but the tempo didn't suit him so I don't think you can read too much into that.

"He's up to 1900 metres for the first time and I think that's what he's looking for."

Mutawarath finished ninth to Lone Command on New Year's Day while his stablemate Carnegies Cruzin, who also contests the Good Guys Auburn Handicap, was fifth to Femina Fashion a week later at his most recent start.

Mutawarath is one of many horses Waller has bought in England and imported to Australia with a view to winning staying races, a strategy that has paid off in the past three or four years.

Rosaleen, who competes in the Hudson Plumbing Handicap (1500m), is another but Waller said she would need more time.

The mare has had two starts in Australia, both in June on wet tracks which she does not like, and has had two barrier trials leading into her first appearance for the year.

"I'm happy with how she's progressing but I think she will definitely need more time," Waller said.

Bandar is second up in the Blackwoods For Welding Needs Handicap (1500m) while the enigmatic Sikka runs over 1300 metres in the Myer Handicap.

Sikka won over 1150 metres on Randwick's Kensington track in November but has been out of the money at his two most recent starts.

Punters have forgiven Sikka for those efforts and he is the early favourite with TAB Sportsbet to extend Waller's winning run.

But if that winning run ends on Saturday, it will be business as usual for Waller and his team.

"It will be something we can look back on as an achievement," he said.

The winning run started last April with Danleigh's victory in the Group One George Ryder Stakes and since then Gigino has been the star of the Rosehill show with five wins.
