Chris Waller is guarded on the tactics to be used to spark a turnaround in Group One winner Pressday but the trainer promises one thing ahead of the Hobartville Stakes - his instructions will be decisive.

On a results-based assessment, Pressday disappointed Waller with his first-up run in the Royal Sovereign Stakes at Randwick 11 days ago but he is expecting the three-year-old to bounce back strongly despite drawing gate nine in a field of 13 at Rosehill on Saturday.

"The draw isn't the best, he's drawn wide again but this time we'll make a decision one way or another on how to ride him," Waller said.

"Last time we weren't sure what to do and the horse was caught out in no-man's-land as a result.

"He was six wide, then five wide and at best he was four wide without cover. This time we'll make a call ... either go straight back or press forward."

Ridden for the first time in a race by Glyn Schofield, Pressday was beaten 4-1/2 lengths when eighth to Master Harry in the Royal Sovereign.

It was the colt's first outing since he scored a determined win in the Sandown Guineas during the Victorian spring carnival.

"While the result was disappointing first-up, there were genuine excuses because of the run he had and he's trained on well since," Waller said.

Pressday claimed last year's TJ Smith Classic at Eagle Farm in a Group One breakthrough and the son of Domesday is one of only two elite-level winners, along with Skilled, in Saturday's field.

Waller has also accepted with American Crew, a three-year-old who was paid a hefty penalty for his TJ Smith placing behind his stablemate.

"The race will be a test for him but he's back on level weights which will help him," Waller said.

Pressday has opened at $8 in TAB Sportsbet markets with American Crew one of the outsiders at $21.

The Gary Portelli-trained Somepin Anypin is the early favourite at $3.80 with Ilovethiscity on the next line of betting at $6.

Like most of his rivals, Somepin Anypin will be trying to enhance his Randwick Guineas prospects in the 1400m Hobartville.

With talented apprentice Josh Adams taking over from Jim Cassidy because of the senior rider's Melbourne commitments, Somepin Anypin faces his sternest test so far after two recent restricted class wins.

Waller, meanwhile, has weight of numbers on his side in a bid to continue his Rosehill winning streak.

Fresh from making it at least 23 consecutive Rosehill Saturday winners last week, Waller has six of the nine acceptors in the Wicked Energy Drink Handicap (2400m).

He will be represented by Stand To Gain, Our Cannavaro, Patrician's Glory, Warringah, Telesmon and Grizz.

"Originally I had two entered (Warringah and Telesmon) but when there were only four nominated I decided to put the others in," Waller said.

Waller doesn't have a runner in the Silver Slipper Stakes but will also chase black-type success with Little Surfer Girl, also a Schofield mount, in the Millie Fox Stakes.

He said he would be trackside at Rosehill instead of heading to Melbourne to watch Shellscrape race in the Group One Oakleigh Plate.
