Chris Waller has every reason to be confident about his stable's Group One prospects in two states next Saturday.

Shellscrape is not one of the favourites for the Newmarket Handicap (1200m) but the three-year-old's record on the straight course at Flemington suggests perhaps he should be.

In two attempts he has registered two Group One placings in the Coolmore Stud Stakes against his own age in the spring and the Lightning Stakes against all comers.

In Sydney his stablemates Rangirangdoo and Danleigh will be among the leading chances in the Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Warwick Farm.

The pair fought out the finish of the traditional lead-up, the Apollo Stakes, with dual Group One winner Danleigh getting the nod.

"Rangirangdoo is a horse waiting to be a Group One horse but it certainly wouldn't surprise me if Danleigh won," Waller said,

"This is his first test over 1600 metres but he looks as if he will get the distance.

"He is already a Group One winner but Rangirangdoo is up to it and I think he will get his Group One soon."

Tim Clark will get the opportunity to guide Rangirangdoo to that goal when he replaces Corey Brown who is riding in Dubai late in the week.

"Tim has been doing a lot of work with the stable," Waller said.

"It's great to be able to get him for the horse."

Hugh Bowman will be aboard Danleigh while Glen Boss has been booked to ride Shellscrape who will carry 50 kilograms in the Newmarket.

Shellscrape fell out of favour when he finished last in the Group One William Reid at Moonee Valley on February 13 and was later found to be coughing.

Exhaustive tests have cleared him of any respiratory or bleeding issues and Waller believes he may have choked on his tongue.

"He has been working in a tongue tie and working well," Waller said.

"He will have a quiet jump-out at Flemington on Tuesday.

"This horse deserves his chance to win a Group One and having Glen Boss is a plus."

Waller's other feature runner is likely to be Little Surfer Girl in the Group Two Surround Stakes at Warwick Farm.

It has been three years since the Chipping Norton Stakes meeting has been held at Warwick Farm which is in the Sydney suburb that gives the race its name.

Other features on the program are Kindergarten Stakes for two-year-olds, the Wiggle Quality for mares and the Liverpool City Cup.
