Gold Coast three-year-old Celtic Dancer may have earned a Melbourne spring campaign following a drama-charged race at Eagle Farm which resulted in two riders being taken to hospital.

The spectacular incident involving apprentices Mitchell Speers and Luke Rolls marred Celtic Dancer's short neck win over Hidden Treasure in Saturday's St Margaret's Anglican Girls School Handicap (1500m).

Speers, rider of the heavily-backed $1.70 favourite Fillydelphia, appeared to lose his irons at the 400 metres and almost ended up riding side-saddle with fellow apprentice Luke Rolls aboard Care Bear as the pair struggled to avert disaster.

But as Speers was dislodged his momentum knocked Rolls out of his saddle and both riders crashed heavily to the ground where they were treated for injuries before being taken to hospital.

Chief steward Wade Birch said Speers was knocked unconscious momentarily and was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital for X-rays for a suspected broken jaw and an upper left leg injury.

Rolls had a sore right foot and was also taken to the hospital for X-rays.

Celtic Dancer's victory was his third win from only five starts and trainer Noel Doyle is now dreaming of bigger things ahead.

"He's been a slow maturer but he keeps improving," Doyle said.

"He's had five starts now so I'll probably give him a short break and then see about taking him to Melbourne for the spring.

"I'm not sure what he'll run in yet but if he doesn't go then the Magic Millions Trophy is his ultimate goal."

Meanwhile, Ro's Purring blotted her hopes of an interstate trip following her shock failure in the Belle Property Handicap (1000m).

Ro's Purring went into the race unbeaten in three starts but after being taken on for the lead she weakened to finish ninth, more than seven lengths from the winner Seqsational.

Trainer Michael Lakey had suggested Ro's Purring could earn a trip interstate if successful but his hopes were dashed at the top of the straight when she began to weaken.

"I will see how she pulls up but it looks like it's back to the drawing board," Lakey said.

"Michael (Cahill) said she only travelled for a few furlongs and maybe the track was a little too firm for her.

"I'm disappointed and I'm scratching my head what went wrong."

Ro's Purring's career has been plagued with knee injuries but Lakey was confident she could win at her first start since mid-March.

Seqsational's win was the second leg of a double for trainer Liam Birchley who earlier scored with Falco Star in the Loud And Clear Design Handicap (1000m).

The daughter of Sequalo is leased by a syndicate of 10 after Birchley picked her out of a paddock at Bahrinna Stud near Beaudesert, south of Brisbane.

"She was always a bit immature and she's capable of going to another level," Birchley said.

"Once she matures more I'm sure she'll win more races."
