A horse yet to fully showcase his potential at major carnival time shared Randwick barrier trial honours with some of Australia's biggest turf stars on Monday.

Sainthood, a rising five-year-old, produced his second dominant trial win in 10 days to convince trainer Rick Worthington he was spring material.

"I'm looking at the Epsom Handicap as his spring target and he'll start off in the Missile Stakes," Worthington said.

Sainthood gave his five rivals a start before veteran jockey Rod Quinn allowed the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup winner to amble up to the leaders at the 200 metres.

Under a tight grip, Sainthood had almost a length up his sleeve in the 850-metre heat.

Sainthood was given a short break after winning the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup on May 7.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse, meanwhile, said Theseo was still about a month away from racing after the weight-for-age galloper finished third to stablemate Herculian Prince in a 1200-metre heat.

"He was only out for a stretch and extend. He will trial again before he races," Waterhouse said.

Cannonball is a definite Missile Stakes runner after a sudden turnaround in trial form.

The former United States sprinter had five lengths to spare over stablemate Rabbuka, convincing Waterhouse he is ready to make his Sydney debut at Randwick on August 7.

"I changed his work around and it's amazing the difference it has made," Waterhouse said.

Waterhouse also had spring eyes for an unraced two-year-old called Mutamayez.

"He's one of the most beautiful colts you will ever come across," she said after Mutamayez remained in cruise mode during his heat win.

Mutamayez, an Encosta de Lago colt, is well-credentialled maternally with Redoute's Choice and former Waterhouse stars Manhattan Rain, Platinum Scissors and Sliding Cube counted as close relations.

Other Waterhouse trial winners included Brightexpectations and Montana Flyer.

Bart Cummings's Australian Guineas winner Rock Classic narrowly won his heat in his first serious hit-out since finishing down the track in the AJC Australian Derby.
