Stronger than expected nominations for a Sydney stakes race have forced trainer Peter Moody to keep weekend options open for promising fillies Curtana and Miss Gai Flyer.

The three-year-olds form two-thirds of the interstate entry for the Silver Shadow Stakes at Warwick Farm but a start for either filly in the Group Three feature remains uncertain.

Moody, the high-flying Melbourne trainer, has also entered the fillies for the Listed Crockett Stakes at Moonee Valley.

"We are trying to cover as many options as we possibly can," Moody's racing manager Jeff O'Connor said.

"There is good depth to the entries for the Silver Shadow and that has taken us a bit by surprise.

"The way things are I wouldn't rule out accepting at both venues and Peter will leave it until Thursday morning before he makes a final decision."

Of the duo, O'Connor said Miss Gai Flyer was the more likely to travel to Sydney.

Miss Gai Flyer is no stranger to Sydney racing, finishing five lengths from Crystal Lily when fifth in the Sweet Embrace Stakes at Randwick during the autumn carnival.

"She was very green that day but the experience did her the world of good because she went back to Melbourne and won easily at Moonee Valley," O'Connor said.

Miss Gai Flyer rounded out her two-year-old term with a narrow defeat in the Karrakatta Plate - Western Australia's richest juvenile race.

"As she showed in the autumn, travelling doesn't worry her so it won't be a concern if we put her on a float to Sydney at the last minute," O'Connor said.

Moody has placed Sydney-based jockey Peter Robl on stand-by for a Silver Shadow ride.

Queensland-trained Sister Havana is the only other interstater nominated for the Silver Shadow, the first leg of the Princess Series which has also attracted quality fillies Chance Bye, Solar Charged, Obsequious and Golden Slipper placegetter More Strawberries.

There are 18 nominations for Crockett Stakes (1200m) with AJC Sires' Produce winner Yosei the 59kg topweight.

Yosei worked at Moonee Valley on Tuesday but her return may be delayed a week, leaving Curtana at the head of the weights with Royal Bender.

O'Connor, meanwhile, confirmed Quezette Stakes winner Panipique will have her next start in the $1 million Golden Rose at Rosehill on Saturday week.

"We've got a stakes win on the board with her now so Peter thought there is nothing to lose by going for a Group One," he said.

Panipique claimed the scalp of Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily in the Quezette, prompting Moody to chase richer purses.

"Crystal Lily has probably got more improvement in her than Panipique but she's still got to make up a length on her," O'Connor said.
