Group One winner Toorak Toff will kick off his summer-autumn campaign on Saturday week at Flemington as he begins his build-up to the Magic Millions and Australian Guineas.

The colt pleased trainer Rick Hore-Lacy in an exhibition gallop at Caulfield on Saturday and has come through well.

The $1 million Group One Golden Rose winner will resume in the Red Tempo Hcp (1000m) and will then start in the Group Three Standish Hcp (1200m) at Flemington on New Year's Day.

He will then head to Queensland for the $1 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) at on the Gold Coast on January 15.

That event, for three-year-olds, was formerly known as the Magic Millions Trophy.

The Show A Heart colt will return to Melbourne to be prepared for the $750,000 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 5.

Hore-Lacy has won the Australian Guineas twice with Kenny's Best Pal (1993) and Dash For Cash (2002).

New race rider Craig Newitt, who replaces Damien Oliver, rode Toorak Toff in the workout at Caulfield on Saturday where the colt had the better of stablemate Guffaw over 1000 metres, running the last 400m in 22.59.

"It was just a nice working gallop on the grass (course proper). It was good," Hore-Lacy said.

The trainer opted for the Caulfield gallop because he had been unable to arrange a workout down the straight at Flemington.

Toorak Toff has travelled to Adelaide and Sydney but has yet to race at Flemington.

Toorak Toff has won five of his 10 starts and more than $1 million prize money.

The colt had four runs during the spring, winning the Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield first up and then going to Sydney for the Golden Rose (1400m) in which he defeated Squamosa and Ilovethiscity at Rosehill.

However he was beaten a long neck by Anacheeva in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) and went for a spell after finishing fourth to the same colt in the Caulfield Guineas (1600m).
