Trainer Lyn Tipper is already in a dilemma with Vipera Gold and the mare's future could get even more confusing if the five-year-old is successful at Doomben on Saturday.

Vipera Gold, a Chris Munce mount, will be striving for her second win from her past four starts following a let-up in the Remondis & Energywatch Handicap (1350m).

The mare was eligible for Class 4 when she scored an upset win on a heavy track in the Listed Nudgee Quality (1200m) at Doomben last month.

Vipera Gold was rated unlucky not to land successive Listed wins when a close-up fourth to Steel Zip in the Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m) at Caloundra on February 5.

Vipera Gold was bred by Tipper who trains a small team of six horses at Bridgeman Downs on Brisbane's northern outskirts.

"I'm not sure where we can go with her now she's in open company. There's not many fillies and mares races around for her," Tipper said.

"I've had a call from Magic Millions wanting me to put her in their sale in June.

"She's racing well and is at her peak and while she's racing so good it's hard to part with her.

"It hadn't crossed my mind to sell her but I have until the end of the month to nominate her and a decision doesn't need to be made until the end of March.

"I'm in a dilemma but it's a happy dilemma."

Tipper's alternative if she retains Vipera Gold would be to aim her for the Brisbane winter carnival.

"It would be lovely to try her in the (Group One) Winter Stakes," she said.

"It may be out of her league but she's improved a lot this preparation."

Tipper is confident Vipera Gold will be hard to beat and rates the Rob Heathcote-trained Tomboy as her main danger.

"I'd love some rain as she would be superior to the others in the wet," she said.

"Chris (Munce) said she should have won last start. He couldn't get a clear run and had to change course slightly and she lost momentum.

"She's not very big but she's gained six kilos since her last run.

"She'll run well and she'll give Tomboy a run for her money."

Jockey Damian Browne is impressed with the fitness level of Mystical Grey who is resuming in the race following his eighth to Work The Room in the Listed Tattersall's Mile (1600m) at Eagle Farm in July.

"I galloped him on Tuesday and he worked well enough but he is first-up over 1350 metres," Browne said.

"He's had a trial and went well."

Mystical Grey gave former Victorian trainer Craig Stott his first win since relocating to Queensland in the Listed Spear Chief Handicap (1500m) at Eagle Farm last June.
