Chris Waller believes The Embassy is nearing his peak ahead of the Group Three Kingston Town Stakes at Rosehill.

The Embassy is already a Group Three winner over the race distance of 2000m but Waller said he was facing a stiff challenge on Saturday in pursuit of another stakes win to go with his four-length victory in the Randwick City Stakes in March.

"The Embassy is going well but this is a pretty competitive race," Waller said.

"He should be getting near his peak, he's a genuine 2000-metre horse and I don't think he goes a lot further than that.

"He's well weighted (53kg), there looks like there should be speed in the race so he should run well."

The Embassy was beaten just over two lengths first-up this preparation when sixth in a 1500m Open Handicap on August 14.

Waller then stepped the five-year-old up to 1800m in the Listed Premier's Cup when he was sixth, beaten a similar margin in the race won by stablemate Snow Alert.

"He looked like he was ready to unleash a sprint and the gaps closed on him," Waller said of The Embassy's Premier's Cup performance.

"These races are around his mark and all going to plan he'll run in the Craven Plate (2000m) at his next start after tomorrow."

The Rosehill trainer has had a great start to the new season with 16 winners in Sydney in the opening month and a half, four and a half wins clear of Gai Waterhouse who has the favourite Herculian Prince in the Kingston Town.

Waterhouse elected to step the five-year-old up in distance after he ran an excellent third in the Group Three Tramway Handicap (1400m) last weekend at Randwick.

The former New Zealander won the Listed Neville Sellwood Stakes (1900m) and Listed JRA Plate (2000m) in the autumn.
