Trackwork will tell Darren Smith where three-year-old Testarhythm is best placed to enhance a comeback record at Rosehill on Saturday.

Testarhythm is entered against older horses in the $100,000 Winter Championship as well as a benchmark race against his own age.

Both races will be run over 1500m but he will receive 59kg topweight in the three-year-old against the 53kg minimum in the Winter Championship.

"I'm not really sure which way I'll go with him yet," Smith said.

"After he works in the morning I'll have a better guide."

Testarhythm, winner of two races in three starts since returning from injury, will gallop with talented stablemate Whisperossa at Newcastle's Broadmeadow racetrack on Tuesday morning.

Whisperossa is also entered for the benchmark three-year-old race after a narrow defeat at Randwick at his most recent start.

"They always work together, they have been sparring partners since they were yearlings," Smith said.

Smith, whose impressive end-of-season city run included a Warwick Farm win on Saturday with She's A Rock Star, will also start Oakfield Commands this week.

Oakfield Commands has won three of his only four starts and the gelding takes on city Saturday grade for the first time.

"He's been kicking along nicely and because it's his last run as a three-year-old I'll give him a chance to win some BOBS (bonus) money," Smith said.

Testarhythm is one of 17 entries for the Winter Championship with Rosehill trainer Chris Waller nominating five runners.

Sydney's premier trainer-in-waiting has entered Altered Boy, Bellagio Wynn, Foreteller, Gigino and Snow Alert.

He has booked Melbourne-based jockey Damien Oliver for the Foreteller ride.

The Rosehill meeting, the last Sydney metropolitan meeting of the season, has attracted huge entries across all classes.

There were 186 horses nominated including 31 two-year-olds in a 1300m handicap.

Numbers are also strong for the benchmark stayers' race despite a softer-than-usual representation from Waller.

His two entries among 17 nominations are Mikiyama and mudlark Telesmon while there is a New Zealand presence with Annie and last-start Randwick winner Aruriteson.

Queensland stayer Warrior Within, a surprise winner of the Grafton Cup, has also been nominated.
