Robust mare Skyerush will be given a stamina test at Randwick on Saturday when she backs up seven days after her latest win to tackle 2400 metres for the first time.

Skyerush completed a hat-trick of city wins at Rosehill on Saturday when she beat African Prince and Patrician's Glory over 2000 metres.

Trainer Guy Walter said the Benchmark 85 Handicap would be the four-year-old's final start before a well-deserved break.

"She has pulled up very well from Saturday and has done a great job," Walter said.

"She has shown stamina and toughness and I think the back-up will suit her.

"Although she has been competing against winter company she has done it very well.

"She will go for a three-month spell after Saturday and come back for a late summer-autumn campaign.

"I don't think she will be ready for the spring and we really want her to have a decent spell."

Since she broke her maiden status at Goulburn on March 1, Skyerush has racked up four wins and four placings from eight starts.

Before her Rosehill victory, Skyerush beat Spence over 2200 metres at Warwick Farm.

Spence, who will be among her rivals again on Saturday, franked the form by winning at Randwick last Tuesday.

Skyerush's stablemate Twin Wing was not among Monday's entries for the Randwick meeting but Walter said he could be a late nomination for the 1800-metre open handicap on the program.

The winner of the Winter Cup (2400m) last month, Twin Wing is being set for next week's Grafton Cup after finishing a close third last year.

The front-running gelding was only collared in the final stages of the 2009 Grafton Cup when Castle Heights beat Hume by a nose with a half-head between the runner-up and Twin Wing.

At his most recent start, Twin Wing was a gallant but distant third in the Stayers' Cup (3200m) at Rosehill.

After leading the field into the home straight, Twin Wing found the going tough, finishing 5-1/4 lengths behind runner-up Lang who was 1-1/4 lengths behind the winner Strike One.

"I'll decide in the morning what to do," Walter said.

"He may go in as a late nomination for the 1800-metre race or he may go straight to Grafton."

There were 11 entries for the open handicap with the top raters Altered Boy, who won over 1600 metres at Randwick last Saturday week, and Delago Star who finished third in the same race.

Meanwhile, imported stayer Basaltico has left the Walter stable to return to Melbourne.

Basaltico was unplaced in the Melbourne Cup when trained by Luca Cumani and failed to fire in four starts for Walter.

"He didn't recapture his best form for me and will do his racing out of Melbourne," Walter said.

The stayer was purchased by Terry Henderson and Simon O'Donnell's OTI Racing on the eve of the 2009 Melbourne Cup.
