Blake Shinn couldn't believe his mount was run down by Faint Perfume last start and is out for revenge in Saturday's Group One AJC Australian Oaks.

Shinn will again ride the Tony Vasil-trained filly Valdemoro who has had to settle for close seconds to Faint Perfume in both the VRC Oaks (2500m) in the spring and again in the Group One Vinery Stud Storm Queen Stakes at Rosehill on April 3.

The pair appear to also have a stranglehold on Saturday's 2400m fillies Classic at Randwick after spacing their rivals at Rosehill over 2000m, and Shinn said Valdemoro was capable of turning the tables this time.

"I wouldn't swap Valdemoro for any other horse in the race," Shinn said.

"She's an outstanding filly and I think she'll make good improvement from the experience of going the Sydney way for the first time last start.

"Tony Vasil has had one aim with her this whole preparation and that's the AJC Oaks.

"I think she's on the right track and all looks well for another good run on Saturday."

The jockey, who goes into the Oaks in a confident mood on the back of a Group One TJ Smith Stakes victory aboard Melito last Saturday, had his first ride on Valdemoro in the Storm Queen.

The filly settled fifth in the field of 15 with Faint Perfume spotting her a big start back in 11th.

Shinn made his move coming to the home turn and Valdemoro raced to the front passing the 300m mark.

However, Faint Perfume unleashed a memorable finish to get up by half a neck on the line - half the winning margin from the VRC Oaks in the spring.

"I thought I had the race won and was very disappointed I got run down because my filly tried her heart out and gave her all," Shinn said.

"I just hope she draws a nice barrier and we can put her to sleep in the run. The 2400 metres should suit her perfectly."

Faint Perfume was the $2.70 favourite with TAB Sportsbet ahead of Wednesday's final field declaration with Valdemoro at $4.20.

Last Saturday's Adrian Knox Stakes winner Speedy Natalie ($7.50) is the only other filly under double figures.

Valdemoro has the pedigree to also suggest she'll be suited in Saturday's Oaks.

Her mother Hveger is out of the famous producing broodmare Circles Of Gold who won the AJC Australian Oaks in 1995.

Among Circles Of Gold's progeny are multiple Group One winners Elvstroem and Haradasun.

The 2003 Victoria Derby was one of five Group One wins for Elvstroem, while Hveger was placed in both the South Australian Oaks and Australasian Oaks in 2005.

"She's very big and strong so the 2400 metres will be no issue - she might be a Cups horse in the spring," Shinn said.
