Shane Scriven has been granted a stay of proceedings against a five-month suspension for stealing a whip from a rival rider in an Ipswich race earlier this month.

The stay will enable Scriven to ride Toowoomba flyer Azzaland in the Group Two Victory Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The Queensland Council and Administrative Tribunal is yet to fix a date for his appeal hearing.

Scriven's suspension for the whip-stealing incident from rival Ben Looker on April 15 began on Monday night.

He is hoping to have his suspension overturned so he can continue to ride during the Brisbane winter carnival and maintain his association with Perth stayer Scenic Shot in Saturday week's Group Two Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast.

Glen Colless is currently on stand by to ride Scenic Shot in the Hollindale Stakes if Scriven's appeal is heard and dismissed.

Meanwhile, 37 horses have taken up the challenge against the world's best sprinter Black Caviar in next month's Group One BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben.

Hay List, who is being wooed by the South Australian Jockey Club to contest next month's Group One Goodwood Handicap (1200m) at Morphettville, was among the BTC Cup entries.

Hay List and Black Caviar have met three times with the mighty Melbourne mare winning decisively every time including their latest clash in the Group One TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick on April 9.

Brisbane's other feature races included 47 nominations for the Group One Doomben Cup on May 21 while 72 were received, including Black Caviar and Hay List, for the Group One Doomben 10,000 on May 28.

The Group One Queensland Oaks at Eagle Farm on June 4 received 123 nominations while 147 nominations were taken for the $1 million Group One Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm on June 11.

Also on Stradbroke day is the Group One TJ Smith (1600m) which received the most nominations of the winter races with 173 entries and the Group One Queensland Derby (2400m)which attracted 132 nominations.
