Star three-year-old Samantha Miss has a June date with the auctioneer but trainer Kris Lees hopes she may still have a future on the racetrack.

Samantha Miss has just undergone stem cell surgery on a tendon injury and Lees said the procedure had gone "without a hitch".

He said on his website the filly had started light exercise at Paul Blackman's spelling and pre-training farm.

"Last Thursday she had something like eight million stem cells put into the tendon and they were happy with how it went," Lees said.

"For the next three months she will do quite a bit of exercise, not strenuous, but a lot of walking.

"From there she will come back to the stable and we'll continue to do plenty of walking and some limited trotting and swimming."

Lees said the success of the procedure would not be fully known for some time.

The daughter of Redoute's Choice - a triple Group One winner - and unraced Zabeel mare Milliyet, confirmed her status as one of the best fillies seen in Australia since Sunline by winning five group races, including the Flight Stakes and VRC Oaks.

She won seven of 12 starts and more than $1.7 million before damaging a tendon after her first autumn run in February.

Magic Millions managing director, David Chester, predicted her appearance at the national broodmare sale on the Gold Coast would draw worldwide interest.

"She's a classic looker and a classic performer. She'd be the jewel of any breeding crown in seasons to come," Chester said.

"As a racehorse fillies don't come any better than Samantha Miss. She's won Group races from 1200 to 2500 metres."
