Roulettes may have forced her connections into rethinking a spell with her dominant win at Moonee Valley on Sunday.

Co-trainer Wayne Hawkes said Roulettes was originally going for a spell after the $100,000 Listed St Albans Stakes (1000m) but that could be changed.

He said the filly's strong win may be enough to sway Roulettes' other co-trainers, John and Michael Hawkes, into pressing on towards next month's Group Three Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield.

"We were only going to go until today," Hawkes said.

"I haven't spoken to Dad (John Hawkes) yet but I dare say we might even give her a little break and maybe look at a Blue Diamond Prelude or something like that."

Sent out the $3.30 favourite, Roulettes sat handy to the speed but was left in front when the Peter Moody-trained Paranoid called it a day at the 200 metres.

Roulettes went on to win by 1-3/4 lengths from Paranoid's stablemate Flokkati.

Hawkes said he was most impressed by the way Roulettes rallied when challenged by the runner-up.

"She did a good job. She's a pretty professional little horse who did everything right," Hawkes said.

"Peter Moody's horse (Paranoid) dropped off on the home turn which worried me a little bit but when Flokkati got up on her outside she stuck her head out and knuckled down again."

Winning jockey Steven King scored on Roulettes on debut at Cranbourne on November 22 and was quick to stick with the filly.

"She's a real professional," he said. "She's got good gate speed and the good thing about it is she's got a good turn of foot.

"When you ask her to quicken she does it. She's just a push-button filly."

Hawkes said he was also pleased with the way Roulettes handled the delay to the start of the St Albans Stakes which was caused by Rostova's half-brother Galaxy Talk playing up badly in the barriers, becoming temporarily cast.

Galaxy Talk was a late scratching from the event with Paranoid being backed out of the gates to be inspected by vets before being passed fit to run.

"No-one wants to see horses going off in the barriers but our filly handled herself really well," Hawkes said.

"The horse who went off could have upset all the others but she did a good job not to get too flustered."

The David Hayes-trained Ebony Rock ($6) was the first of the colts home in third spot.
