Neville Layt experienced the biggest moment of his career in Queensland and is keen to head back there with another city-performed galloper who is set to resume on Wednesday.

One More Grand, winner of the Rosebud Quality at Rosehill last year, returns at Warwick Farm with Queanbeyan-based Layt considering a Brisbane winter campaign for the three-year-old.

Layt prepared Karuta Queen to win the $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast in January.

Karuta Queen's regular jockey Tommy Berry is also the rider of One More Grand and the colt makes his comeback in the Guineas Restaurant Handicap (1100m) after a summer preparation aborted after one disappointing showing.

"He had just one run back in December (at Canterbury) and he had a little hiccup there," Layt said.

"We had a little operation done on him and he's come back and he trialled nicely last Tuesday over 900 metres at Canberra. He's back better than ever.

"He had a little wind flap across his larynx and it was from the virus he had when he had his first-up run, and we had him operated on."

The son of Snitzel has won three of his 11 starts with two of his wins coming at Rosehill in his two-year-old season.

Warwick Farm was rated in the heavy range on Tuesday but Layt was hopeful the track would improve to a slow surface.

"He can handle heavy but I didn't want him to have a gut buster first-up on a bog track," the trainer said.

"I'll just get him back and see how he goes, but if he comes back as good as I think he will then he might go up to Brisbane somewhere along the line for some of those nice three-year-old races up there.

"He's got to show me tomorrow he's back and I think he'll be right in the race."

This week's midweek meeting in Sydney was set down for Canterbury before its transfer to Warwick Farm last week.

Canterbury hosts Saturday's metropolitan meeting in Sydney which includes the running of the $100,000 Lord Mayor's Cup(1900m).
