Nash Rawiller believes the best of his Caulfield Guineas mount Dreamscape will not be seen until next preparation.

But the leading rider is also confident the colt already possesses enough ability to win Saturday's Group One three-year-old feature.

"I think he's a really, really promising horse," Rawiller said after riding Dreamscape in a gallop at Caulfield.

"Right from day one he's shown huge potential.

"If he's as good as I think he is, then this isn't necessarily going to be his best preparation.

"I think he'll continue to improve."

Dreamscape cantered for 1000m on the course proper before stepping off from the 1200m with stablemate Rockwood in a piece of work that pleased both Rawiller and trainer Gai Waterhouse.

The work convinced both that the colt was entitled to his position on the second line of Guineas betting.

"He got a little bit lost around the home turn," Rawiller said.

"But once we got balanced up in the straight ... he was fine."

Rawiller's only concern is Dreamscape's tendency to miss the start as he has done in each of his three Sydney starts.

But he believes even that won't be insurmountable on Saturday.

"If he's slow away it's going to make it difficult for him," Rawiller said.

"But I think he's got the ability to have something go wrong and still recover."

In an effort to cure Dreamscape's barrier manners, Waterhouse will fit a new type of blinkers on Saturday.

Rawiller said the new gear gave a horse a greater range of vision and could help him leave the gates cleanly.

Dreamscape ran the best race of his three to date when he trounced Whitefriars in the Group Two Stan Fox Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill last Saturday week.

Before that he'd finished third to Predatory Pricer - again after being slowly away - in the Ming Dynasty over the same course and distance two weeks earlier.

He had won his only other start, beating subsequent Melbourne winner Aichi and the highly-regarded Duporth, in the Group Three Up And Coming Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm in August.

Dreamscape is a $7 chance on Saturday behind the pick of Melbourne's three-year-olds, Whobegotyou, who is at $3.80 with TAB Sportsbet.

But Rawiller isn't concerned about the reputation of the favourite, a brilliant winner of the Group Two Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley at his latest outing.

"I haven't seen much of the local three-year-olds," he said.

"But I know mine is one of the nicest horses I've ridden for a while."
