Trainer Mick Price has the Queensland Oaks as a target for Tasmanian Derby winning filly Betwixt.

Betwixt, who is raced by a syndicate of 10 and managed by Sydneysider Graeme Smith, posted her third win in six starts in last Saturday's Group Three feature.

Price has always had liked the daughter of O'Reilly but admitted he had been surprised how far she had come this campaign.

"I thought she was going to be one of those New Zealand bred fillies that would be a lovely four-year-old mare but now we are setting her for the Oaks in Queensland and possibly the Derby," Price said.

"She is still learning but we have got an opinion of her.

"She is not a flukey filly.

"It was the first time over a journey (2200m) in the Tasmanian Derby last Saturday and she did a good job to win a race like that at only her sixth start."

Ridden by Linda Meech, Betwixt became the first filly since Royal Eclare in 1977 to win the Tasmanian Derby when she scored by a length from Reprisal.

Her previous wins were at Ballarat and Stony Creek.

Price said Betwixt would now have a break before getting ready for the Queensland winter carnival.
