Promising filly Tariana could be a surprise starter in Adelaide's Listed Proud Miss Stakes, leaving trainer Mick Price without a runner at Flemington this weekend.

Price has nominated the three-year-old for Saturday's James Boags Pure Waters Plate (1200m) at Flemington but he will decide after trackwork on Tuesday if she will instead run in Sunday's 1200m feature at Morphettville.

Stablemate Dubleanny is already confirmed for the Proud Miss after connections decided the Group One The Goodwood (1200m) would be too rich for her.

Price could be in a unusual position of being without a city runner in Melbourne as his only other Flemington entry, two-year-old first starter Trina, will almost certainly run at Wangaratta on Saturday.

Price said Tariana, a winner of two of her three starts, should be unbeaten.

He said he erred running her against the boys at Flemington last start when she faded after racing on the pace to finish fifth, although within two lengths of the winner Stirling Grove.

"It was probably the wrong race for her the other day," Price said.

"She was a bit close to the top the whole way and it just told on her in the end."

"So far she has done a good job and she is just going to keep getting better and better."

Saturday's Flemington race has attracted 23 entries including Peter Moody's unbeaten filly Aporia and stablemate Paparazzi Dreamer who has won two of four.

Safe, Rock Me Sweet, No Vanity and Royal Bender are among other notable entries.

Price said Craig Newitt would ride Dubleanny in the Proud Miss.

He also promises to have a big hand in Sunday's South Australian Derby (2500m) with Echoes Of Heaven who is a chance to also run in the Queensland Derby (2400m) on June 11.

"He's always promised to be a Derby colt and he's had a really nice prep," Price said.

A winner of two of his four runs this campaign, including a barnstorming victory in the Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m) on April 16, he will back up in the Derby after a three-quarter length third to Kittens and Backgammon in last Saturday's Group Three Chairman's Stakes (2020m) at Morphettville.

"He was good on Saturday, hit the front 100m out, but those horses with a bit more momentum down the outside nutted him," Price said.

"He hasn't got a margin on them ability-wise but the distance suits and he's ready to go."

Only VRC St Leger winner Right Of Refusal ($3.80) and Backgammon ($5.50) are ahead of Echoes of Heaven ($6) in the TAB Sportsbet SA Derby market.
